Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Electronic Technician for our client in Springdale, AR. This role offers a competitive salary of $69K per year. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and improving our client’s in-house industrial controls and programmable controllers. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, with a focus on preventative and reactive maintenance, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and Repair: The Electronic Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing all in-house industrial controls, programmable controllers, and related equipment. This includes performing preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Support Role: The candidate will assume the back-up role of Company electrician when needed, particularly in the building and grounds department. This involves performing preventative, proactive, and reactive maintenance as required.
  • PLC Programming: The Electronic Technician will handle new PLC programming for small projects (approximately 10% of the time) and troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical systems, including PLCs, using electrical prints and ladder logic programs (approximately 90% of the time).
  • Circuitry and Component Modification: Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components, recording effects on unit performance to ensure all systems are functioning at peak efficiency.
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): The candidate will help implement, drive, and lead TPM activities. This includes creating, documenting, and leading preventative maintenance activities, with a particular focus on CNC equipment and other process-controlled equipment.
  • Documentation: Assist in writing operational manuals and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of the company’s equipment, whether electronic, electrical, or electro-mechanical/pneumatic.
  • Customer Communication: The Electronic Technician will communicate with customers and the sales team to develop job strategies and product applications, ensuring that all client needs are met.
  • CNC Equipment Maintenance: The role includes maintaining and repairing CNC equipment, monitoring newly installed equipment, and training other workers on the operation of this equipment. The technician must also be flexible and willing to return to the plant on days off in cases of maintenance emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints, performing controls wiring projects, and drawing circuit prints. The candidate must be capable of learning CNC fundamentals and operating CNC machines for maintenance and troubleshooting purposes. A solid knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs, drives, A/C and D/C, and servos is essential.
  • CNC Experience: Prior experience with CNC mechanical operations and performance, including knowledge of electrical systems controls, power supplies, and sensors such as proximity sensors and photo eyes. The candidate should also be familiar with servo drives for control systems.
  • Electrical Circuitry: Strong knowledge of electrical circuitry with the ability to troubleshoot failed cards and system components. Experience in machine alignment and calibration using tools like laser interferometers, spindle analyzers, and ball-bars is highly valued.
  • Educational Background: A two-year associate degree or a completed journeyman program in a related field is preferred. Additional qualifications in CNC programming and PLC controls are advantageous.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills, particularly when dealing with internal and external customers. Strong conflict management skills and the ability to maintain awareness of the maintenance budget are also important.
  • Safety and Compliance: A strong commitment to safety, with the ability to work safely and follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
