Job Details

As a Powerhouse Technician for Conagra, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and ensuring the efficient operation of energy sources, boilers, coolers, steam, water, air compressors systems, and machinery. Your responsibilities will include monitoring, troubleshooting, performing repairs, conducting maintenance, and installations according to schedules and in both emergency and non-emergency situations. This position is vital for upholding safety regulations, meeting GMP and quality standards, and ensuring the smooth flow of the production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Begin each shift by checking the schedule, conducting pass-over with the previous shift operator, donning all required Personal Protective Equipment, and performing safety checks on equipment.
  • Conduct walkthroughs of work areas, check work orders, prioritize maintenance requests, troubleshoot repairs, coordinate with co-workers/supervisors for efficient scheduling, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Monitor energy sources visually via computer monitoring systems, make necessary adjustments, updates, and corrections.
  • Respond promptly to call-outs, troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, conduct fire prevention measures, and maintain energy sources, boilers, ammonia systems, chillers, generators, air compressors, and machinery as needed.
  • Plan and execute proper repair work sequences to minimize production delays, perform preventative maintenance tasks, and coordinate schedules with co-workers/supervisors.
  • Maintain and repair plant systems, evaporators, filtration systems, change gaskets, install filter bags, check heaters, strainers, pressure regulators, bleed lines, and perform quality checks.
  • Assist Maintenance Techs and outside trades/specialists in equipment repairs, installations, modifications, and other mechanical tasks as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas, perform housekeeping duties, enter downtime data in logs, complete PM sheets, track department inventory, and report deficiencies to the Supervisor.


  • 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills in power systems recognized by management, supported by training, certifications, or documented evidence of staying updated with technologies.
  • Valid EPA universal certification, State License to Operate, valid state Driver’s license, availability of a vehicle, and a working phone.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office, ability to learn company software, and perform basic math calculations.
  • Physical fitness for standing and walking extended periods, ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Completion of required trainings such as Forklift, LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, SCBA level A, and Chemical Training.
  • Good organizational, time management, communication (verbal/written/digital), and problem-solving skills.
  • Adherence to safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Procedures, ability to read, write, and communicate in English related to job duties.
  • Willingness to work scheduled/assigned times, overtime as needed, access all levels of structures, and operate necessary equipment/tools.
