Sanitation Supervisor
Location: Decatur, AR
Salary: $70,000 per year
Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Sanitation Supervisor to join our team at our Decatur, Arkansas facility. Reporting to the FSQA Manager, the Sanitation Supervisor will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest sanitation standards throughout the plant. This position involves supervising a team of Sanitation Technicians and collaborating with the Decatur leadership team to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform dry cleaning, general cleaning, and sanitation duties as assigned throughout the plant.
Ensure adherence to food safety cleanliness in the handling of products, ingredients, and finished goods, complying with FDA, BRC, and Preventive Controls standards.
Review machinery swab results to verify proper cleaning and sanitation practices.
Utilize chemical or non-chemical pest control systems and maintain proper chemical inventory tracking.
Maintain accurate records of all sanitation work performed.
Participate actively as a member of the Food Safety Committee.
Conduct internal audits and support corrective actions as needed.
Provide leadership and guidance to production and sanitation personnel for completing sanitation tasks based on the Master Sanitation Schedule and Routine Tasks.
Create, update, and implement SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and the Master Sanitation Schedule.
Confirm post-clean assessment and effectiveness of sanitation measures.
Collaborate with plant leadership to develop procedures for verifying and validating sanitation effectiveness.
Ensure appropriate training for sanitation staff according to job responsibilities.
Manage staffing levels through recruitment or temporary labor agencies as needed.
Evaluate employee performance and apply disciplinary action when necessary.
Perform additional projects assigned by the supervisor to ensure product safety and quality.
Enforce adherence to company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Position Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of hourly employees effectively.
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in English language (speaking, communicating, and understanding).
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work at heights if necessary.
Willingness to work indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of chemical usage procedures and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) application for sanitation.
Familiarity with visual work control and 5S practices is advantageous.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of sanitation experience in the food industry.
Minimum of 3 years in a supervisor/lead role in a manufacturing plant.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Safety, HACCP, GMPs, and OSHA standards.
General understanding of equipment operation within the food manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in MS Office products and computer usage.
Familiarity with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use related to chemical applications.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of equipment function and chemical applications.
