Our client is seeking a skilled Sewing Machine Operator to support daily garment alteration and repair tasks in a full-time production environment. This role focuses on performing precise alterations, including hemming, sewing patches, and adjusting garment fit according to specified measurements. The Sewing Machine Operator will use industrial and domestic sewing machines, ensure all work meets quality and durability standards, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate industrial and/or domestic sewing machines to complete garment alterations and repairs.
- Hem garments to specified lengths while maintaining a clean, professional finish.
- Sew patches accurately onto uniforms, clothing, and other fabric items.
- Take in garments to adjust fit according to customer or production specifications.
- Inspect all finished pieces to ensure quality, accuracy, and long-term durability.
- Maintain sewing equipment, perform basic upkeep, and report any issues.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Follow all company guidelines related to garment handling, production procedures, and safety.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a sewing machine operator or in garment alterations required.
- Ability to read and interpret measurements, alteration notes, and instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in stitching and garment finishing.
- Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
- Solid hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating sewing machinery.
