Job Details
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Grinder / Deburr Operator for our client located in Fort Smith, AR. This full-time opportunity offers steady work on either 1st or 2nd shift and the chance to be a part of a dedicated manufacturing team. The Grinder / Deburr Operator will be responsible for preparing fabricated metal components for final production through grinding, deburring, sanding, and finishing processes. This position is crucial in ensuring the quality and consistency of parts that meet both internal and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform grinding, sanding, and filing operations on welded and raw metal components
- Use electric and air grinders, sanders, files, and other hand tools
- Operate forklifts to transport materials and finished parts
- Maintain organized material staging in line with production plans
- Collaborate with supervisors to track production and maintain documentation
- Ensure all parts are dispositioned correctly before scrapping or reworking
- Provide feedback on quoting accuracy and participate in process improvement
- Assist with kitting for welding and support resolution of quality issues
- Follow all safety, housekeeping, and PPE policies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience in grinding or metal finishing preferred
- Familiarity with measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, and indicators
- Ability to read engineering prints and understand geometric tolerancing
- Capable of operating Timesavers, vertical belt grinders, and fabrication tools
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Forklift experience and MRP system knowledge preferred
