This Yard Help role is a temp-to-hire opportunity designed for individuals who are looking for long-term employment and growth within a stable company. The Yard Help position plays an essential role in supporting daily yard operations, including loading materials, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the yard remains clean and organized.
The ideal candidate for this Yard Help position is someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable operating equipment such as forklifts, and can work efficiently in a physically active environment. The Yard Help team member will assist customers directly, ensuring they receive the correct materials quickly and safely while also supporting internal operations like stocking and unloading shipments. This Yard Help role is critical to maintaining smooth operations and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift safely to move, load, and organize materials within the yard
- Assist customers by loading purchased materials into vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
- Unload incoming trucks and verify materials against shipping documents
- Stock merchandise in designated yard locations and ensure proper organization
- Perform regular yard maintenance, including keeping areas clean, clear, and safe
- Monitor and assist with inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels
- Organize materials to improve accessibility and workflow within the yard
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling materials and equipment
- Provide general support to team members and assist with daily operational needs
Qualifications
- Previous forklift experience preferred; certification is a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to safety and ability to follow instructions
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials as needed
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of inventory processes is a plus
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities
