Job Details

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable New Business Coordinator to support the processing and underwriting of new business applications for funeral expense, limited pay, and annuity policies. This position plays an important role in ensuring applications are processed accurately, required information is obtained, and policies are prepared and distributed according to company procedures and state regulations.
The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, excellent attention to detail, good communication abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter application information accurately into the QLA system and validate mailing addresses.
  • Process new business applications according to underwriting instructions and company procedures.
  • Review policy files and generate required correspondence using computer software.
  • Communicate with agents, career agents, funeral homes, applicants, and medical offices to obtain information needed to complete the underwriting process.
  • Order supplemental medical questionnaires and attending physician records when required.
  • Contact physician offices by phone to obtain additional medical information or clarify medical history.
  • Answer routine phone calls and provide professional assistance to agents, funeral homes, and applicants.
  • Assemble and mail insurance policies according to state regulations and company procedures.
  • Set up policy files, copy required documents, generate correspondence, and update policy records with mailing information.
  • Send completed policies to the mailroom for distribution and policy files for scanning.
  • Process cancellations, declines, and incomplete applications according to established procedures.
  • Review coworkers’ policy information entered into the QLA system for accuracy.
  • Proofread assembled policies and documentation before they are mailed.
  • Provide backup support for other department team members as needed.
  • Enter, proofread, and edit documents and data while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive applicant, medical, policy, and company information.
  • Complete additional projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to enter data quickly and accurately.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate insurance policy benefits.
  • Ability to learn and understand medical terminology related to underwriting guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow up as needed.
  • Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
