Job Details

We are currently seeking a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler Equipment Operator for one of our clients. This position is responsible for operating industrial trucks and other material-handling equipment to safely move, load, unload, stack, stage, and count products and materials throughout a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
The Material Handler Equipment Operator will work as part of a team with minimal supervision and will play an important role in keeping materials moving efficiently throughout the facility. This position requires strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and the ability to follow safety procedures and written and verbal instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and other industrial lift trucks throughout the scheduled shift.
  • Safely drive lift trucks in forward and reverse while maintaining awareness of surroundings and direction of travel.
  • Move, locate, relocate, stack, load, unload, and count raw materials, supplies, finished products, and other materials.
  • Safely place products in designated storage locations.
  • Stage products for outbound shipments according to customer and load requirements.
  • Inspect products for damage, contamination, or other quality concerns.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on lift trucks and auxiliary equipment.
  • Clean or recharge equipment batteries and report equipment defects or needed repairs to a supervisor or maintenance team.
  • Operate forklifts, lift beams, swivel hooks, hoists, elevating platforms, and other material-handling equipment as required.
  • Position lifting equipment around pallets, skids, boxes, and other loads and secure materials for safe transportation.
  • Manually load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, and lifting devices.
  • Move waste bins and empty waste into designated compactors, trailers, or other appropriate receptacles.
  • Operate powered air-supplied respiratory equipment when performing designated cleaning functions.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Accurately count, document, scan, and complete required paperwork.
  • Verify paperwork and product information to ensure the correct materials are being received and shipped.
  • Follow all company safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and be willing to work required overtime during busy periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Approximately two years of related warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification is preferred; candidates must be able to successfully complete the client’s forklift certification program.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills preferred.
  • Ability to use a hand-held radio.
  • Ability to read and understand basic operating instructions, invoices, receivers, procedures, and other workplace documents.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to safety, accuracy, organization, and productivity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members and management.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workplace conditions.
