Job Details
Our client is seeking an experienced Food Production Supervisor to oversee daily food production operations and production staffing. This role supervises multiple areas of the facility, including the live room, evisceration, sanitation, packaging, shipping, box room, and ground areas.
The Food Production Supervisor will ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications are met while maintaining efficient workflow throughout the facility. This position works closely with department managers, maintenance, sales, and production employees to support continuous improvement and a safe, productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise food production employees and daily staffing operations.
- Create production schedules with safety, employee rotation, and production goals in mind.
- Ensure food, pet food, and other saleable products meet quality and customer specifications.
- Lead weekly safety huddles and promote a strong safety culture.
- Provide required employee training on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Cross-train employees on multiple production roles to improve safety, flexibility, and efficiency.
- Ensure employees have the equipment and supplies needed to perform their jobs safely.
- Work with department managers and maintenance to improve production processes.
- Coach and mentor production leads to help develop future leadership.
- Assist employees with production tasks as needed to maintain workflow.
- Monitor inventory and ensure inventory information is accurately recorded and communicated to Sales.
- Participate in sales meetings to discuss production needs and goals.
- Assist with product recalls and audits, including GMP, FACTA, and EAGLE requirements.
- Identify unsafe working conditions and work with maintenance to implement safety solutions.
- Ensure employees follow GMP, SOP, SSOP, HACCP, and company procedures.
- Support the company’s Quality System and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with research and development of company products and record data as needed.
- Review and approve employee timecards according to payroll deadlines.
- Address employee concerns and communicate policies, expectations, and corrective actions clearly.
- Follow USDA, FSIS, OSHA, food safety, animal welfare, and general safety requirements.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 2 years of production industry and safety experience required.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Fluent in English and Spanish required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Must be eligible for coverage under the company’s automobile insurance.
- Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and FSIS regulations and guidelines.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internal software.
- Excellent problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to train, coach, and lead employees.
- Ability to safely operate or become certified to operate equipment used in plant operations.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools, machinery, knives, saws, and other production equipment.
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials and equipment.
