Our client in Fayetteville, AR, is seeking an experienced Automation Technician to join their team. This role offers a competitive salary range of $45,000 to $60,000 per year and involves planning, developing, modifying/improving, testing, and starting up PLC and HMI automation projects for industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience with Rockwell Automation and PLC hardware, and a thorough understanding of electrical installations and codes compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, modify/improve, test, and start up PLC and HMI automation projects for industrial applications.
- Troubleshoot Rockwell Automation and PLC hardware, including RS Logix 5, 500, and 5000.
- Oversee electrical installations, ensuring compliance with codes and construction methods.
- Update blueprints for structured cabling, building controls, fire alarm, security, and access control.
- Work closely with contractors to implement software and hardware upgrades.
- Produce accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair high (480 VAC) and low (24VDC) voltage control systems.
- Troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs using RS Logix software on a PC (laptop).
- Champion reliability for all electrical installations, including low (110V) and high voltages (480V).
- Ensure compliance with electrical labeling, signage, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, City, State, etc.).
- Train maintenance or assigned teams on proper troubleshooting of AC inverter and DC variable speed motor drives.
- Identify needed parts, plan jobs, and install complex electrical equipment under minimal supervision.
- Document all work using company email and CMMS software.
- Comply with company policies such as lock-out/tag-out, PPE utilization, and GMPs.
- Assist other trades with repairs and installations.
- Communicate ongoing repair information to management verbally and in writing.
- Provide approved electrical/PLC training updates to maintenance teams.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Automation Technician or similar role in an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI automation programming, particularly with Rockwell Automation and RS Logix software.
- Familiarity with electrical installations, codes compliance, and construction methods.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair high and low voltage control systems.
- Proficiency in documenting work and using CMMS software.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
