Machine Operator
Location: Fayetteville, AR
Pay Rate: $16.02/hr
Job Description:
We are seeking highly motivated individuals to work as machine operators in our tube mill, where copper tubing is formed and stretched. As a machine operator, you will be responsible for operating various machines including the Draw Bench 36k & 50k, Pointer, Annelear, and Eddie Tester.
The position requires physical work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75lbs. Therefore, we are looking for individuals who can handle the physical demands of the job.
Your duties will include:
Operating the Pointer machine: You will feed long pieces of tubing into the machine that puts a point onto the tube. You must move tubing from one area to another by pushing, pulling, and light lifting. Heavy lifters are required and individuals with previous back issues will not be considered.
Operating the Tube Annelear: This machine takes the tubes from the pointer machine and feeds them through a machine that heats them to about 500 degrees to soften the copper and make it more malleable/easier to manipulate.
Operating the Draw Bench: The tubes from the annelear are sent into this machine which stretches the tubes out to make them into different diameters. There are 2 draw bench machines (50k and 36k). The 50k draw bench does the larger diameters and 36k does the smaller.
Operating the Eddie Tester: After the tubes have gone through the draw bench, they are sent through the Eddie machine. This machine tests the grain structure of the tubes. The tubes are required to be 85-90% pure copper. If they are less than this, they are sent to the scrap chopper to be re-melted. The Eddie Tester may also operate another machine that uses a shoot (similar to the ones at a bank) that sends a small piece of metal every 1-1.5 hours. The sample is placed into a different quality testing machine that shoots a laser into it and gives an exact makeup of the metals and compounds. This allows us to monitor the different elements and adjust the pot as needed.
To be successful in this position, you must have:
Experience working as a machine operator in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read schematics and blueprints.
Basic math skills to perform measurements and calculations.
A commitment to safety and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of overtime and occasional weekend work. If you are a hardworking individual with a can-do attitude and a solid work history, we encourage you to apply today.
