Our client, a respected leader in the finance industry, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their accounting team and support the overall financial operations of their organization. This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the Controller and plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting tasks, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, internal audits, and the preparation of financial reports. This individual will also oversee the maintenance of suspense and clearing accounts, accounts payable, and deposit processes. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple deadlines.
In this role, the Senior Accountant will dedicate approximately 25% of their time to account reconciliations and journal entries, another 25% to internal audit functions, and the remaining time to overseeing AP, deposits, fixed assets, regulatory filings, 1099 processing, and serving as a backup for other accounting staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a solid understanding of general accounting principles are essential, as is the ability to quickly learn and navigate industry-specific financial software.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and posting journal entries; reviewing and reconciling general ledger accounts
- Leading internal audit efforts to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Managing clearing, suspense, and payable accounts
- Preparing and analyzing quarterly, annual, and supplemental financial reports
- Maintaining fixed asset systems and annual 1099 reconciliation
- Supporting regulatory filings and financial documentation
- Acting as a backup to team members and supporting other accounting-related projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required)
- CPA license preferred, but not required
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to analyze and explain financial data clearly
- Exceptional organization, accuracy, and communication skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
- Must be bondable and pass a drug screening
