Job Details

1st Employment is now hiring a Shoulder Cutter for our client in Southwest City, MO. This position pays $23.40 per hour. The Shoulder Cutter cuts around the shoulder of each front half to separate the wing, so it is set up properly for the Wing Rounder and the wing cutters down the line.

This is a great fit for someone with at least 3 months of industry experience who pays close attention to detail and works well on a team. The Shoulder Cutter works on an inside line in a cold environment around loud equipment. No travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Make an accurate cut on every front half around the shoulder and along the scapula (shoulder blade).
• Pull the breast downward to separate the meat from the frame.
• Watch for bones and remove them as needed.
• Keep checking and improving your cut while keeping scrape scores low.
• Sharpen your knife every 3 or 4 birds and change blades at each break.
• Prepare a proper presentation for the wing cutters.
• Work as part of the team: attend team meetings, follow team programs and policies, and share best practices with coworkers.
• Spot areas where the team is not working well together, bring them to the team leader, and help find solutions.
• Learn the plant’s operating systems, understand how your work affects them, and share concerns and ideas for improvement.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as needed to support the business.

Qualifications

• At least 3 months of industry experience.
• Able to make accurate, consistent knife cuts.
• Team player who communicates well with coworkers and the team leader.
• Willing to wear required PPE: apron, earplugs, Kevlar gloves, hair net/beard net, and required footwear.
• Able to work in a cold environment on an inside line around loud equipment, with exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.
• Able to walk safely around grates, hoses, and foot baths.
• Able to stand for your entire shift.
• Able to reach above, at, and below shoulder level throughout the shift.
• Able to perform repetitive motion with the shoulders, arms, and hands, including firm gripping, fine hand work, pushing, and pulling.
• Able to bend at the neck throughout the shift, and occasionally walk, bend at the waist, and twist at the neck and waist.
• Able to use vision and hearing on the job.
