Job Details

The TIG Weld Fabricator – Journeyman is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role includes preparing materials, performing precision TIG and MIG welding, maintaining fabrication equipment, and ensuring all finished products meet quality and dimensional requirements. The TIG Weld Fabricator – Journeyman must also help maintain an organized and safe work area while supporting team productivity and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate sub-assemblies and complete assemblies according to detailed shop drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret both paper and electronic fabrication drawings to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Layout, align, position, and fit metal components prior to welding.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using processes such as GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG).
  • Tack components together before final welding to verify correct alignment and dimensional accuracy.
  • Ensure all fabricated assemblies meet required tolerances and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping floors, removing trash, and properly storing equipment.
  • Keep tools, consumables, and welding materials organized and properly stocked.
  • Inspect incoming parts and materials and report items that do not meet specifications.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools through routine cleaning, inspection, and preventative maintenance.
  • Follow environmental, safety, and operational guidelines at all times.
  • Support teamwork by assisting coworkers and maintaining clear communication within the fabrication team.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Operate forklifts or lifting equipment when required and in accordance with proper training and safety procedures.
  • Lift materials and components weighing 50 pounds or more when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a TIG Weld Fabricator – Journeyman or in a similar welding/fabrication role.
  • Strong TIG welding experience with stainless steel and sheet metal components.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication techniques, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding work.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more repeatedly during a shift.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
