Job Details

We are currently seeking a dedicated Underwriter’s Assistant for our client in Fayetteville, AR. This full-time position reports to the Policy Services Supervisor and offers a competitive pay rate of $13-$15 per hour. The Underwriter’s Assistant will work closely with underwriters to support the efficient and profitable handling of assigned agency business, ensuring that all policy documentation and processes are managed effectively.

 

The Underwriter’s Assistant is responsible for assisting underwriters in processing policies and other required policy documentation. This role is critical in maintaining the smooth operation of underwriting activities and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compute rates and premiums for all new, renewal business, endorsements, and cancellations.
  • Follow up with account suspense items.
  • Process binders, endorsements, cancellations, bills, and cancel notices.
  • Invoice accounts in compliance with agency standards.
  • Responsible for policy issuance activities.
  • Gather and organize specified information to maintain current underwriting files.
  • Service all accounts, including resolving agents’ inquiries, complaints, requests, and policy processing activities within guidelines, including direct bill inquiries.
  • Ensure processing quality, timeliness, and file maintenance.
  • Perform applicable procedures to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Issue direct notices of cancellations and non-renewals.
  • Maintain current licenses for classes as required.
  • Maintain tax affidavits as required.
  • Issue filings for policies as required.
  • Provide backup for Associate Underwriters.
  • Provide backup for the reception desk.
  • Perform additional functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate; college-level courses with an emphasis on business studies are helpful. Professional insurance-related certifications or courses or professional designations are beneficial.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong computer skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to gather and organize information and stay focused on repetitive tasks.
  • Basic understanding of standard underwriting practices and procedures.
  • Retain training knowledge of underwriting classifications, forms, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of given instructions, prescribed routines, and standard accepted underwriting practices.
  • Resourceful and controlled assertive behavior characteristics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and reliability.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to meet deadlines and work within workflow standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to support overall profitability initiatives for assigned business.
